A Whole New Meaning to Chocolate...

I found this artist posted on Art & Critique, a blog that writes about contemporary painters. My current favorite is definitely Jeanne Illenye’s The Chocolate Series. Maybe it’s because we’ve just closed the Eros & Agape...

Elijah, you've done it again! What an uplifting and delightful commentary. If I'd not been the artist, I'd certainly be driven to purchase one of these painted temptations just from your descriptions of desire alone. For me there is something quite magical about shades of hot, fuschia pink and deep, rich brown, particularly as is found in the silky combination of my “Cherry Cordials” herein featured. I, too, thought this painting carried a dual meaning, thus found it difficult to part with when sold. Elijah, it was quite enlightening to hear how your consumption of bonbons has quite a different effect on your sensory perceptions with generally cooler tones, producing sparkly and exciting visions of silver stars and blue swirls on a gold background...I’ll have to paint something along those lines as you’ve inspired me to explore another palette entirely! This is truly a fun series to paint, although they do add a few pounds as a result of sampling my subjects! Elijah, my sincerest thanks for your review, as it is always a joy to experience your interpretations and sheer mastery of the written word. Jeanne
